I stepped on the scale, and my heart sank. I knew I had gained weight—my jeans had started to feel just a little too tight lately, and I found myself reaching for nothing but my yoga pants.
But I didn’t expect the number to be this much. I had avoided the scale for so long because, honestly, I just didn’t want to deal with the reality of it.
There were always other things grabbing my attention—work, my business, homeschooling the kids, our marriage, and the constant flow of friends and family.

I lifted weights, subscribed to Pilates classes, joined in-person workouts, and prioritized walks. I nourished my body and my family with nearly 90% whole foods and homemade meals.
